Bio


Jen Schumacher's journey into CrossFit is as unique as it is inspiring. A dedicated swimmer training for the English Channel, Jen's world took an unexpected turn when the 2020 pandemic led to pool closures. Adapting to the circumstances, she began participating in Zoom workouts with her local CrossFit gym in New York, transitioning from kitchen workouts to group sessions at a high school track and eventually a marina parking lot. The resilience and community spirit she experienced drew her deeply into the world of CrossFit.


In 2021, after competing in her first Open and local team competitions, Jen refocused on her swimming ambitions, achieving a notable feat in the English Channel. However, transitioning to land-based sports brought its challenges, including a series of injuries. As she recovered, Jen's path led her to Evanston to serve as the Mental Performance Consultant for the Northwestern University Football team. Her extensive experience includes coaching elite athletes, West Point cadets, Special Forces officers, marathon swimmers, and executives.


With a PhD in Health and Human Performance and a rich background in mental performance coaching, Jen joined CrossFit Wilmette in Spring 2023 as a Mental Performance Coach. She values the gym’s vibrant community, comprehensive programming, and well-rounded approach. Jen is excited to contribute her expertise in mental performance to the CrossFit community.
