Mary Schick

Coach

Bio

Mary Schick’s entry to CrossFit came in 2013 when some friends invited her to a boot camp at CrossFit Rock River. Her life was forever changed!

She’d been an avid runner and vegetarian at that time and had racked up an impressive three marathons and countless half-marathons in a decade, but hip pain was starting to interrupt her sport.

After that boot camp, Mary became immediately hooked on CrossFit and has stayed with it ever since. What she didn’t expect was the friendships, support, encouragement, and love from the other athletes and coaches that she found in the community. “There is something about doing a WOD together that bonds us as humans—sharing our war stories, the pain, the wins.”

Mary applies dedication and passion to her athleticism. She has attended two Bad Bitch Camps with Sage Burgener (who writes Mary’s programming), NOLA with Aimee Everett, and most recently, the CrossFit Health Summit. Mary works with five times CrossFit Games athlete Kenzie Riley for nutrition coaching. She is a L9 CrossFit athlete.

Mary became a CrossFit coach in 2018 to give back to the sport that changed her life. After she started coaching, she obtained her master's degree in Sports and Health so that she could have the education to help people live a better life and prevent chronic disease. She says, “I want to give people something that resonates, something they can take home and share with their family.”

What is the best day coaching for Mary? “The best day is when I can give that cue that helps someone.”
