Bio


Ann's CrossFit journey began in 2010 when the Chicago Police Academy adopted CrossFit as its new fitness method. She quickly fell in love with the varied workouts and challenging movements and soon earned her Level 1 Certification.


Ann spent 21 years as a Chicago Police Officer, primarily as an Instructor of Physical Skills and Control Tactics at the Police Academy. If she wasn’t leading recruits on grueling long runs, she was teaching them fighting techniques. During this time, she discovered the value of CrossFit as an amazing community. A close friend opened Dog House CrossFit, which soon became her second home.


In 2021, Ann retired from the Police Department and moved to Libertyville. Finding a new motivating and supportive gym and CrossFit community inspired her to coach again. In 2023, she achieved her Level 2 and CrossFit Kids Certifications.    


Ann’s coaching approach focuses on improving mobility and form. She believes CrossFit should heal, not hurt, your joints through full range of motion and strength. Proper form is essential, and coaching is crucial for all athletes, regardless of their training level. “We can all improve, and that’s what’s so amazing about CrossFit. You never really know what you are capable of until you put in the work. It's incredible how, with every workout, you can grow, learn, and improve your fitness and life skills with a great community to support you.”


Ann enjoys spending time relaxing with and being at various sports events with her four kids, Nathan, Hailie, Trevor, and Addie and husband, Kevin.  She also enjoys reading books, spending time with friends, exchanging recipes, and tending to her flock of chickens.  Ann is determined to keep up with her kids for as long as possible.
